INDIVIDUAL COMPANY PROFILE

The Strategic Value Profile is an 8-page document that provides a focused, expert detailed evaluation of a company's capacity to generate future value and achieve its potential.

The best-practice ASB Reporting Statement provides the framework for this comparable evaluation. The Operating and Financial Review is still an expectation of all listed companies and remains more encompassing than the statutory Enhanced Business Review specified by the Companies Act 2006. Refer to the 'Evaluation Method' web page for a more detailed explanation of the standard that we apply.

The Strategic Value Profile comprises a rigorous, in-depth evaluation that touches on more than fifty key points and two indicative models across seven factors. Five of these factors relate directly to strategy and strategic capability. Two of them - communication and coherence - relate to the accessibility and ease of assimilation of the content.

Each company receives an overall score out of ten based on the simple average of the underlying scores that it receives, also out of ten, for each of the seven factors of assessment:

  • Objectives and Strategy
  • Performance and KPIs
  • Future Factors and Risk
  • Non-Balance Sheet Resources
  • Social, Ethical and Environmental matters
  • Communication
  • Coherence

COMPARISON REPORTS

Rigorous analysis applied on a consistent basis to a given standard to which all companies should aspire means that comparability of companies is a major benefit from strategic value analysis. Companies that are relatively similar in terms of industry and business model also stand up to the scrutiny of direct comparison with one another.

Comparison reports typically compare the strategic value profiles of companies that are relatively homogeneous, such as life insurers, banks or transport groups. They are concise and powerful visual-based studies that link the power of strategic value analysis to the reality of price earnings ratio for each of the companies in the comparison report.
